Our Mission

Honoring and Preserving Our Grandmother's Legacy

Our commitment to preserving the legacy of Madame Phoebia Cheek Sullivan includes protecting the sacred land where she performed her healing work, which touched thousands across the country. To honor her influence and continue her mission, family members established the Madame Phoebia Cheek Sullivan Memorial Park.

Our goals are designed to ensure this land remains a beacon of healing, education, and community for generations to come:

  • Restore Sullivan Temple: Renovate and preserve this historic landmark using innovative and environmentally sustainable solutions.

  • Create Sacred Spaces: Provide areas for meditation, worship, and quiet reflection.

  • Foster Community Connection: Offer open spaces for all community members and visitors to gather and enjoy.

  • Develop Hiking Trails: Establish several trails for exploration and connection with nature.

  • Promote Native Plantings: Cultivate herb gardens and native plant spaces to honor Madame Sullivan’s healing legacy.

  • Build an Outdoor Amphitheater: Design a space for events, performances, and communal gatherings.

  • Establish Educational Opportunities: Provide educational spaces to share the rich history and teachings of our ancestors.

  • Conserve Land Resources: Protect the land’s natural resources while preserving its agricultural and rural character.

We are dedicated to maintaining the spirit of community that our grandmother, elders, and ancestors cultivated on this land. To achieve this, we actively collaborate with residents, local organizations, and associations in Polk County and beyond. Together, we can honor the past, nurture the present, and build a future rooted in unity, healing, and sustainability.
